In summer, Marysville, OH, is a hub of excitement packed with summer activities. Get behind the wheel of a Buick LaCrosse or Chevrolet Traverse and have a blast joining all the festive summer celebrations happening around the town.

1. Summer Skills Series

The city offers an exciting Summer Skills Series for young people interested in outdoor recreational activities. The series includes programs led by experts who will teach beginner-level skills such as safety, equipment, and activity engagement. Passport to Kayaking will be held on Saturday, July 15, at Aldersgate Park in Marysville at 400 Damascus Road and is open to children between ages 8 and 17.

Participants will learn the basics of kayaking in a safe and fun environment. Passport to Archery will take place on Saturday, August 12, at the Marysville Upground Reservoir at 18375 Raymond Road and is open to ages 10 to 17. Trained instructors will teach proper archery forms and emphasize the importance of safety.

2. The Route 4 Farm Tour’s Battle of the Bands

Join an exciting night of live music, delicious food, and family fun at The Route 4 Farm Tour’s Battle of the Bands event. This thrilling competition takes place at various venues in and around Marysville, culminating in the final on Friday, July 7, at Partners Park at 125 East Sixth Street in Marysville, between 6 and 10 p.m.

Don’t miss your chance to see the best local bands compete for the opportunity to open for Ashley Cooke on July 22 in Plain City and Lainey Wilson, one of country music’s brightest new stars, on July 30 at the annual Union County Fair. 

3. Union County Fair

The 175th Union County Fair, held this year from July 23 to July 29 at the Union County Fairgrounds at 845 North Main Street, is Marysville’s biggest summer event. Be sure to join the festivities to enjoy a variety of entertainment, arts and crafts, shows, live music, and of course, delicious festival food.

The grandstand entertainment lineup is jam-packed with exciting events, ranging from truck and tractor pulls, lawnmower races, and calf scrambles to harness racing, bull riding, and a thrilling motocross race.

4. Ohio Balloon Fest

Make sure to mark your calendar for the annual Ohio Balloon Fest on Thursday, August 10, Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12. Bring your lawn chair and witness the unforgettable spectacle of hot air balloons taking flight from the Union County Airport at 15000 Weaver Road and soaring high above Marysville.

This vibrant event draws crowds from all over the state, offering hot air balloon rides, plenty of fun for the kids, great bands playing on the stage, and delicious festival food.
