Engine Performance

When it comes to engine performance, all four of the 2023 Silverado 1500’s engine choices are impressive. Offering a fuel-efficient option, the Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel I-6 engine delivers 305 horsepower and up to 29 mpg on highways, though the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder offers a bit more strength with 310 horsepower.

Churning out even more power, the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 produces 355 horsepower, while another EcoTec3 V8, a 6.2-liter, serves up 420 horses. With the exception of the 2.7-liter engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, all engines come alongside a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Versatility and Towing

Leaving the pavement for off-road adventures has never been easier, thanks to the available four-wheel drive. An available automatic locking differential, which comes standard with the trail-ready ZR2 Bison trim, can sense when the rear wheels are lacking traction and can lock both wheels, so they move in unison for extra grip.

Towing is also made easier thanks to this pickup’s 13,300-pound maximum towing capacity, which is achievable in select models with the Max Trailering Package and either the 6.2-liter V8 or the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine.

Interior and Technology

This pickup cabin offers plenty of comfortable seating options, including 10-way power front seats, a driver memory feature to remember preferred settings, and a split-folding seat for the back row.
