Fishing is a great way to bond with your in-laws, kids, and grandkids. You can get some much-needed relaxation by or on the water and know exactly where your dinner came from at the end of the day. Today, we’re looking at some of the best fishing spots you can drive to near Marysville, OH if you want to reel in a big one.

1. Delaware State Park

Delaware State Park at 5202 US Highway 23 N is one of the best places to fish for smallmouth and largemouth bass. You can also find an abundance of muskie and crappie in the Delaware Reservoir located in this state park. Near the marina, there is a small pond specifically for children under the age of 16 to catch fish from.

2. Madison Lake State Park

Madison Lake State Park at 4860 E Park Drive is another great place to cast a line. In the 106-acre Madison Lake, you can find channel catfish, bullhead, crappie, bluegill, and bass. There are many other ways you and your family can enjoy Madison Lake, too. For instance, you can sail, paddle, or boat on the lake as long as the boat does not have a gas-powered motor.

Your kids and dogs can also enjoy this lake by swimming. On the west side of the lake, there is an unfenced dog swim area that your dogs can enjoy without a leash. There is also a 300-foot-long stretch of sandy beach that is loved by sunbathers and swimmers.

3. Alum Creek State Park

We also recommend fishing from the Alum Creek Reservoir in Alum Creek State Park at 3615 S. Old State Road. Some of the most sought-after fish in Alum Creek Reservoir are smallmouth and largemouth bass and muskies. Kids typically have fun fishing for bluegill. Generally, you can expect to catch smallmouth bass near the dam. If you’re looking to haul in white bass, your best bet is fishing above Howard Road.

If you’re vying for foot-long crappies, we recommend attracting them in Big Run Cove and on the east bank above Cheshire Road. You also may be able to find large crappies just above the State Route 36 Causeway. We also recommend fishing above the causeways and in the Big Run Cove area for channel catfish.

There are many great spots to fish from in the Marysville area, but a dependable car is required to get to them. If your current car isn’t reliable, a 2024 Chevy Trax may be ideal for your family. To find out for sure, visit us today at Coughlin GM of Marysville to take one for a test drive
