2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is what full-size pickup trucks are all about. It has a strong lineup of engines, a comfortable cabin, and impressive towing power. For the 2023 model year, the Duramax turbo engine gains some extra horsepower, but other than this, the Silverado 1500 carries over to the new year without any changes. Here's a look at some details.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Work Truck has 17-inch steel wheels, a locking tailgate, and keyless entry. Step up to the Custom for body-colored trim, 20-inch alloy wheels, and LED lighting in the cargo bed. Take another step up to the Custom Trail Boss for skid plates, 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and a two-speed transfer case. The LT has 17-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, and LED headlights, and the RST has 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, and LED taillights. The LT Trail Boss adds LED headlights, and the ZR2 has 33-inch all-terrain tires and off-road adaptive dampers. The top-level LTZ and High Country trims upgrade to 20-inch wheels and add extra features such as power-deployable running boards.
Engine (Power)
The Silverado 1500s engine lineup starts with a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine with 310 horsepower. Next in line is a 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower, and then a 6.2-liter V-8 that churns out 420 horsepower. The last engine for the Silverado 1500 is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel with 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard with most trims, and four-wheel drive is either standard or optional.
Performance
With so many engines, there is a Silverado 1500 for any job. The 6.2-liter V-8 is the quickest, getting the truck to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. The diesel has the slowest acceleration, but it is smooth and quiet. If you need to tow, the 6.2-liter can pull up to 13,300 pounds, and the 5.3-liter can tow up to 11,500 pounds.
Interior
There's room for up to six people in the larger Silverado 1500 cabs. The Work Truck has vinyl upholstery and rubber floors, while the Custom has cloth upholstery and adds a power-adjustable driver's seat. You'll get leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats in the Limited, and heated rear seats in the High Country.
Technology starts with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports, but the LT is where you'll get the 13.4-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and enhanced Google-based voice controls.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes with a rearview camera, airbags, and traction and stability control. It also comes with the Chevy Safety Assist bundle of advanced driver aids with forward collision warning, automatic braking, lane-keep assist, pedestrian detection, and a following distance indicator. GM's Teen Driver system is another standard feature, and it has a rear-seat reminder. The LTZ adds a blind-spot warning system with automatic braking, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and an advanced trailering system. The available Safety Package adds a pre-wired trailer view camera system, perimeter lighting, and a surround-view camera.
