2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
After undergoing a massive overhaul for the 2019 model year, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 experiences slight modifications while maintaining its stronghold as one of the best in its class. Despite its massive size, the Silverado 1500 is fairly easy to maneuver, especially in confined areas. With eight trims, three bed and cabs sizes, and seven powertrains, there's bound to be a Silverado 1500 that meets all your needs.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are eight trims available with the 2021 Silverado 1500: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, and High Country. However, you need to decide upon your cab style and bed length before selecting the trim as not all trims offer every possible cab and bed option. The three cab sizes include the Regular that seats three people as well as the Double and Crew cabs, both of which seat up to six passengers. There are also three bed lengths available as well, including ones that are 5-foot-10-inch, 6-foot-7-inch, and 8-foot-2-inch.
New for 2021 is a multifunctional tailgate, which includes a small cutout so you can haul long objects and a step to make it easier to climb into the bed.
Engine (Power)
The 2021 Silverado 1500 offers several engine options. It comes standard with a V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. All trims offer an optional 5.3-liter V-8 that gets 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Other available engines include a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder one that produces 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque and a 6.2-liter V-8 that achieves 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. There's also a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine that gets 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Every Silverado 1500 is available with four-wheel drive, and most trims include the Z71 package, which includes a more rugged suspension. Depending on the engine and trim level, you receive a six-, eight-, or 10-speed automatic transmission. When the truck is properly equipped, it can tow up to 13,300 pounds and haul up to 2,280 pounds.
Due to the numerous engine options, the Silverado 1500's fuel economy ranges vastly. The turbo-four engine gets an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, while the 5.3-liter V-8 attains 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. As one of the most fuel-efficient powertrains in its class, the diesel engine achieves 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The intuitive Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system has a straightforward menu, allowing you to easily access the menu quickly. It comes standard with a 7-inch touch-screen display, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other available technology upgrades include an 8-inch touch-screen display, navigation, satellite and HD radio, wireless device charging, and extra USB ports.
Safety Features
The 2021 Silverado 1500 comes standard with a rearview camera and the Teen Driver system, which allows you to set audio and speed limits for secondary drivers. Available safety upgrades are abundant, some of which include front pedestrian braking, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Because of these impressive safety features, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Silverado 1500 with its highest rating in five of its crash tests.
