2021 GMC Acadia
A family-friendly crossover SUV that can seat up to seven people, the 2021 GMC Acadia includes premium styling and amenities similar to those found on luxury SUVs. Sitting between the smaller Terrain and larger Yukon, the Acadia received a refresh and upgrades in 2020, providing riders with a spacious interior and smooth ride. Use this guide to learn what else you can expect with the 2021 Acadia.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can choose among five trims with the 2021 Acadia: SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. The Acadia's modern exterior includes a chromed grille and fascia as well as prominent wheel arches. All trims except the base one include roof rails, a hands-free power liftgate, and fog lights. The AT4 trim is the SUV's off-roading option, as it includes all-terrain tires, while the Denali has an optional sunroof.
Engine (Power)
A nine-speed automatic transmission is mated with all three engine options found on the 2021 Acadia. Standard on the SL and SLE trims is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 194 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. The standard engine for the SLT trim is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder one that gets 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The most powerful engine is standard on the AT4 and Denali trims. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine produces 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
All-wheel drive is available on all trims except for the base one. Behind the base engine, the Acadia can tow a maximum of 1,000 pounds, but increases to 1,500 pounds behind the 2.0-liter engine and 4,000 pounds with the V-6 engine.
When it comes to fuel economy, expect the base engine to get an estimated 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The 2.0-liter paired with all-wheel drive should get around 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the front-wheel-drive option decreases the highway mileage by 1 mpg. With the V-6 engine and front-wheel drive, the SUV attains 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, while the same engine with all-wheel drive gets 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The Acadia's upscale and modern cabin features soft-touch surfaces and active-noise cancelation, ensuring your ride remains comfortable and quiet. Its three rows of seats are spacious, and the second-row bench seat or captain's chairs have an upgraded Smart Slide system, which allows you to access the third row easier. Both rows fold flat, increasing the 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space to an impressive 79.0 cubic feet. To keep everyone connected, the SUV comes standard with an infotainment system paired to an 8.0-inch touch-screen display, a Wi-Fi hot spot, five USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Safety Features
Behind the GMC Pro Safety Plus suite of safety features, which is standard on the SLT, AT4, and Denali models, the Acadia gains automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, forward-collision alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. Due to these impressive features, the Acadia earned a perfect five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
